Have you heard of @nvrlnd.yyc ? @nvrlnd.yyc is a non-profit artist collective that transformed an abandoned hotel into 26 affordable rental studio spaces. They currently house 35 interdisciplinary artists that create, experiment and share their work from their studios. After their first year, 32,832 hours were spent by artists working on the craft and 500 Calgarians are engaging with these artists every month. You won’t believe this place until you come see it.

What does that have to do with you? We think what they’re doing is super cool and we have to work with them for our next pop-up. That’s right, the cat’s out of the bag. Every Secret Shop is approached with a grassroots mindset. That means we ask you to help get our message out to the right people. It came to our attention early on that a great event has a lot to do with who is present. We think having our audience help shape the final product by inviting great people is also an opportunity to incorporate a sense of community in the process. We like to ask our guests: “How did you hear about us?”, and the answer is almost always: “My friend invited me.” Lots of cool people have been showing up, so thank you for helping us get the word out.
